The TPD8S009 device is an eight-channel TVS diode array for ESD protection. The TPD8S009 is rated to dissipate ESD strikes at the highest level specified in the IEC 61000-4-2 (Level 4) international standard, with a contact discharge ESD protection level of ±8kV. The device's low capacitance (0.8pF) combined with excellent matching between differential signal pairs enables the device to provide transient voltage suppression circuit protection for high-speed equivalent data rates (3dB bandwidth >4GHz). The TPD8S009 is available in an 8-pin SON package. This package enables simple design and layout because its footprint exactly matches the high-speed pinouts of HDMI and DisplayPort. The TPD8S009 provides an optional VCC supply pin that can be connected to the system power plane. There is a blocking diode at the VCC pin, which supports the I_OFF function of the TPD8S009. When the VCC pin is connected to 0V, the TPD8S009 can handle live signals on the signal pins. During startup, the VCC pin allows all internal circuit nodes of the TPD8S009 to be at a known potential. However, connecting the optional VCC pin to the board power plane does not affect the system-level ESD performance of the TPD8S009.
